San Juan implements various regional development and restoration projects
The San Juan provincial and municipal governments have launched several initiatives focused on economic empowerment, environmental conservation, and heritage preservation.
In San Juan city, the Office for the Integral Development of Women (ODIM) has introduced the ‘Handywoman’ program. This initiative provides 28 women with practical training in construction and home maintenance skills, such as plumbing, painting, and roofing, to foster economic independence.
At the provincial level, several advancements were reported: the launch of the ‘Eco Ruta Turística’ to promote nature tourism across eight protected areas; the recognition of 20 scientific research projects from local universities; and the expansion of the Provincial Afforestation Plan across 19 departments. Additionally, the government renovated the 14th Police Station in Zonda to improve local security services.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Water, and Energy completed a comprehensive restoration of the historic facade of the Hospital Dr. Guillermo Rawson. The project, which preserves the 1928 landmark, included repairing original woodwork, restoring ornamental sculptures, and waterproofing the structure to maintain its architectural identity.
