San Juan mayor proposes electoral reform for 2027

Sergio Miodowsky, the mayor of Rivadavia, has proposed electoral reforms in San Juan ahead of the 2027 elections. Miodowsky advocated for the implementation of the 'Boleta Única de Papel' (Single Paper Ballot) to replace the current 'sistema de lemas' (SIPAD), arguing that the change would simplify the voting process and increase transparency for citizens.

He emphasized that any legal modifications should prioritize voter convenience over political tactics. Additionally, Miodowsky supported holding joint elections for municipal and provincial executive offices to ensure political alignment with Governor Marcelo Orrego’s administration. The provincial Chamber of Deputies is currently working to reach a consensus on a new electoral code before the end of the year.
