San Juan nurse sentenced for hospital appointment fraud

An individual identified as Godoy has been sentenced to six months of effective imprisonment for defrauding patients at the Hospital Guillermo Rawson. Godoy used professional medical attire to pose as active staff in hospital corridors, targeting vulnerable people by promising expedited medical appointments and studies in exchange for cash.

Investigators determined that Godoy used forged medical orders with counterfeit stamps to facilitate his scams, with some victims being charged up to 60,000 pesos. The fraud was uncovered after a patient noticed irregularities in a prescription, leading hospital staff to confirm the document was apocryphal.

Records show that Godoy previously worked for four years at the Hospital José Giordano in Albardón, San Juan, until he was dismissed in 2024 due to poor performance. Because he had a prior criminal record from 2021, the judge ordered immediate incarceration in the Provincial Penitentiary Service.
