San Juan rugby sees growth in women's participation and gender parity

Rugby in the San Juan province of Argentina is experiencing a period of significant growth and institutional transformation, particularly regarding gender parity. Maximiliano Larrea, coach of San Juan Rugby Club, noted that the gap between local rugby and major rugby hubs is narrowing.

Larrea highlighted the rapid expansion of women's rugby, stating that two local clubs now field female teams competing at a national level. He also emphasized the increasing presence of female referees, noting that the sport is increasingly viewed as being for all genders. This growth in both male and female participation is expected to strengthen local rugby institutions and improve the potential for international competition.

Regarding youth development, the club focuses on foundational training through physical education and motor skills, teaching children to enjoy the game before mastering technical rugby skills and physical contact safety.
