San Juan school gas complaints drop 80% following maintenance plan

The government of San Juan has reported an 80% reduction in complaints regarding gas failures in schools compared to 2024. This improvement is attributed to a preventive maintenance plan implemented by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Water and Energy through the Gas Network Directorate.

The strategy involves proactive inspections and repairs to address issues before they become emergencies. The operation covers approximately 450 school buildings across all 19 departments of the province. Currently, contracted companies are performing work in 295 schools, while the Gas Network Directorate's own staff manages the remaining institutions.

Maintenance tasks include airtightness testing, leak repairs, and the servicing of appliances such as heaters, stoves, water heaters, and regulators. Work was intensified during the winter break to allow for partial or total service interruptions without disrupting classes, though maintenance continues throughout the school year.
