San Juan school investigation launched after child abuse message found

A judicial investigation has been launched in Rawson, San Juan, following the discovery of a message written in a bathroom at the Carlos María de Alvear school. The inscription, which included a drawing of a sad face, reportedly read: ‘I am pregnant, help. I am only 10 years old, it was my uncle.’

Authorities have confirmed that the 10-year-old girl mentioned in the message has been located. She is expected to undergo an interview in a Cámara Gesell to provide her testimony. Educational authorities erased the message from the walls, a move that drew criticism regarding the potential loss of physical evidence, though photographic records and witness testimonies were preserved.

Prosecutor Duilio Ejarque of the UFI ANIVI is leading the investigation. Police and forensic experts have visited the school to review security footage and interview staff. In response to the incident, the province is utilizing the ‘Ángel Guardián’ protocol to provide interdisciplinary support and protection for the minor and the school community.
