San Leone celebrates Madonna Assunta with week of religious events

San Leone is hosting a week-long series of religious and cultural events to celebrate the Madonna Assunta, beginning Monday, August 24. The program includes various activities such as a lecture on Caravaggio’s Contarelli Chapel, theatrical performances, and musical exhibitions.

The festivities will culminate on Sunday, August 30, with a traditional procession. This includes a floral tribute by firefighters, a procession of the Madonna Assunta's image from the church to the harbor, and a sea procession accompanied by a fleet of boats. The celebration will conclude with a final mass and fireworks.
