San Lorenzo car accident damages ANDE electrical infrastructure
A vehicle rollover in San Lorenzo, Paraguay, caused significant damage to electrical infrastructure. In the early hours of Sunday, a Toyota Ractis lost control on La Victoria Avenue, presumably due to speeding, and struck a concrete pole belonging to the National Electricity Administration (ANDE).
The collision damaged a 23,000-volt power line and several adjacent columns. Residents reported a loud explosion, likely caused by a damaged transformer. An ANDE crew worked throughout the morning to restore electricity to the area.
The driver was rescued from the wreckage by volunteer firefighters after becoming trapped. Both the driver and his passenger sustained injuries and were transported to the Trauma Hospital of Asunción. While authorities noted the area lacks sufficient nighttime lighting, they did not describe the specific curve where the accident occurred as inherently dangerous.
