San Lorenzo de El Escorial promotes heritage and arts festival

San Lorenzo de El Escorial is positioning itself as a major cultural destination by combining its historical heritage with contemporary artistic programming. The municipality features the Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a monumental complex commissioned by Philip II and constructed between 1563 and 1584. Designed by architects including Juan Bautista de Toledo and Juan de Herrera, the monastery includes a basilica, library, and royal pantheons.

Complementing this historical site, the Escena Escorial performing arts festival, directed by Alondra de la Parra, will take place at the Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial from August 28 to September 19. The five-week festival offers a diverse program including music, dance, theater, and opera, aimed at attracting visitors interested in both historical landmarks and modern artistic innovation.
