San Lorenzo faces potential auction of headquarters over Piatti debt

San Lorenzo faces the potential auction of its social headquarters on Avenida La Plata due to an unresolved legal dispute with former player Ignacio Piatti. A recent judicial hearing between the club's lawyers and Piatti's legal representative failed to reach an agreement, leading to a scheduled follow-up meeting on September 24.

The total debt, stemming from a 2021 legal battle over a unilateral contract termination during the pandemic, amounts to USD 4,369,889.11. This figure includes indemnities, interest adjusted to the MEP dollar rate, legal fees, and court costs. The conflict originated during the management of Marcelo Tinelli when the club exercised a rescission clause.

In an attempt to settle the matter, San Lorenzo proposed a cash payment combined with the transfer of a percentage of future television rights. However, Piatti's legal team rejected the offer, deeming it insufficient. The club's headquarters remains under preventive attachment as a guarantee for the debt.
