San Lorenzo forward Nahuel Barrios sidelined for up to eight months with ACL tear

During a Thursday training session, San Lorenzo announced that forward Nahuel “Perrito” Barrios suffered a partial rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Medical examinations confirmed the injury and the club said he will miss between seven and eight months of competition.

The club added that the treatment approach—surgical or conservative—will be decided in the coming days together with the player. Barrios, whose contract expires at the end of 2026, had been in talks to extend the deal, and the length of his recovery could influence any renewal. He posted an Instagram message expressing faith and resilience after the diagnosis.

The setback follows a recent spate of serious knee injuries in the San Lorenzo squad, which earlier saw Gastón Hernández and Ezequiel Cerutti also suffer ACL tears.
