Argentina: Judicial rulings involve AFA-linked asset seizures and minister dismissals

Argentine judicial authorities have issued several significant rulings involving financial investigations and public officials. In a major development related to the Association of Argentine Football (AFA), Judge Juan Rodríguez Ponte ordered financier Ariel Vallejo to surrender 24 high-end vehicles, including a Ferrari California, within three days. Vallejo, linked to AFA President Claudio Tapia through his firm Sur Finanzas, is under investigation for alleged money laundering and criminal association. The seized assets will be placed under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of Justice.

In a separate matter, the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation unanimously rejected a request by prosecutor Mario Villar to escalate the investigation of a mansion in Pilar, linked to AFA treasurer Pablo Toviggino, to the Supreme Court. The court ruled that the appeal lacked the necessary federal grounds.

In Neuquén, Judge Natalia Pelosso dismissed charges against former Social Development ministers Abel Di Luca and Germán Chiapino in the Viento Sur case, citing a lack of evidence regarding their involvement in the alleged diversion of funds. However, Chief Prosecutor Pablo Vignaroli has announced plans to appeal this decision.

Additionally, a court in Balcarce ordered the exclusion of a man from the Juan Manuel Fangio Autodrome due to outstanding alimony debts.
