San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital inaugurates Italy's first therapeutic vineyard

The San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital in Orbassano, Italy, has inaugurated ‘Rivìtere’, the first therapeutic vineyard integrated within an Italian public hospital. Designed by Citiculture, the 900-square-meter space is intended to support outdoor rehabilitation for patients suffering from neurological disabilities, oncological diseases, and chronic conditions.

The project aims to complement traditional hospital treatments by utilizing a natural environment to promote functional recovery, psychological well-being, and quality of life. Patients can participate in activities related to grapevine care, movement, and social interaction, tailored to their specific therapeutic goals and physical conditions.

Developed in collaboration with the Associazione San Luigi Gonzaga Onlus and supported by several foundations, the initiative seeks to generate scientific evidence regarding the efficacy of nature-based therapeutic activities. The inauguration was attended by Maurizio Marrone, Vice President of the Piedmont Region.
