San Luis, Argentina raises municipal workers' salaries by 10%

The municipality of San Luis announced a 10% salary increase for its municipal employees, bringing the cumulative pay rise for 2026 to 17%, which is above the year's inflation rate of 16.8%. The raise includes converting a $30,000 non‑remunerative allowance into regular salary, affecting calculations for overtime, bonuses, leave and future pension benefits.

The announcement, made by Finance Secretary Fabiana Malamud at a press conference, also increased the subsidy for the Ayuda Económica al Desocupado program to 460,000 pesos. Municipal officials said the measures aim to preserve workers' purchasing power while keeping the municipal accounts balanced.
