Regional reports detail crime trends and infrastructure developments

Various regional reports highlight shifting trends in public safety, infrastructure, and social services across Latin America and Europe.

In Chile, commercial victimization rates have seen mixed results. While Iquique and Temuco reported significant decreases in crime against businesses, Valparaíso-Viña del Mar saw an increase. Common offenses include ‘hurto hormiga’ (petty theft) and property damage.

In Argentina, crime statistics for the Greater Buenos Aires area show significant variation. Vicente López recorded the lowest crime rate among 24 municipalities, notably seeing a decline in ‘motochorro’ thefts, despite a general provincial increase in that specific crime category.

In Mexico, reports focus on infrastructure and social governance. San Luis Potosí has implemented various social and health programs, including ‘Clínicas Rosa’ and water infrastructure projects. However, concerns remain regarding the lack of reporting for many crimes due to distrust in police, with some analyses suggesting over 93% of crimes go unreported.

Other regional updates include infrastructure developments in Colombia, such as the ALO Sur project in Bogotá, and public safety discussions in the Dominican Republic regarding the need for better investigative intelligence in Santiago.
