San Luis de la Paz residents protest Los Nogales Solar Park

Approximately 40 protesters, primarily women from at least five communities, demonstrated at the municipal presidency in San Luis de la Paz to demand the halt of the Los Nogales Solar Park installation.

Residents claim the project affects over 3,000 people in areas including Maguey Blanco, Rancho Nuevo, and Soledad del Monte. Protesters allege that the solar panels have caused a drastic increase in local temperatures due to irradiation, exacerbated water scarcity, and damaged local flora and fauna.

Demonstrators also submitted a formal petition alleging that the project lacks the necessary land use permits and authorization from SEMARNAT. In response, Mayor Ruben Urías Ruíz invited a delegation of the protesters to the council hall to discuss their demands and seek agreements.
