San Luis deputies to vote on stripping Joaquín Beltrán of immunity

The Chamber of Deputies of San Luis is scheduled to vote this Wednesday on a request to strip Deputy Joaquín Beltrán of his parliamentary immunity. The move is part of the ‘Molino Fénix’ investigation, which examines alleged irregularities in the administration of the Molino Fénix Cultural Complex in Villa Mercedes between 2020 and 2023.

Prosecutors allege that the mismanagement resulted in a loss exceeding 900 million pesos to the public administration. Beltrán is accused of being the alleged leader of an illicit association alongside Anabela Lucero. To approve the removal of his immunity, a two-thirds majority vote of the deputies present is required.

Judge Santiago Ortiz has already ordered 60 days of preventive detention for Anabela Lucero, Enzo Lucero, and Exequiel Scarel. The judiciary noted that coercive measures cannot be applied to Beltrán while he maintains his legislative protections.
