San Luis forest fires in La Carolina and El Volcán contained

Forest fires in the localities of La Carolina and El Volcán in San Luis, Argentina, have been contained and have entered a cooling stage. The Ministry of Security's Directorate of Control and Emergency Management confirmed that the affected perimeters are being constantly monitored.

In La Carolina, the fire reached mountainous sectors, including Piedra Bola, and faced challenges from high soil temperatures and wind gusts that caused some reignitions. Emergency efforts involved volunteer firefighters, provincial brigadiers, and police firefighters.

Authorities are implementing a ‘guardia de cenizas’ (ash watch) in both areas. This operation involves monitoring burned sectors for several hours to detect any potential hot spots that could cause the fires to reactivate. While the fires are no longer spreading, teams remain on-site to ensure the safety of nearby residents and homes.
