San Luis Governor proposes family debt relief bill

San Luis Governor Claudio Poggi has introduced a family debt relief bill to the provincial legislature, stating that financial institutions have responded positively to the proposal. The initiative is designed for all residents of San Luis with debts in arrears for more than three months, rather than being limited to public employees.

The project includes two main components: a Family Debt Relief Program and a Family Consumption Incentive. Under the debt relief program, banks and other authorized financial entities are encouraged to offer improved refinancing conditions, such as interest rate reductions, debt forgiveness, or extended payment terms. In exchange, participating entities will receive tax benefits, including exemptions from Gross Income Tax and Stamp Tax on the new agreements.

The second component aims to stimulate local commerce by allowing participating entities to offer vouchers, discounts, and promotions. For these consumer incentives, the province will provide a tax credit equivalent to 25% of the amount allocated to the promotions.
