San Luis hosts 2nd Regional Congress of Women in Security Forces

The 2nd Regional Congress of Women in Security Forces will be held in San Luis, Argentina, to strengthen leadership and professional development for women in security, defense, and penitentiary systems. The event, scheduled for Friday the 14th, will host 160 participants from San Luis, San Juan, and Mendoza, as well as representatives from federal forces.

The congress coincides with the commemoration of National Police Women's Day, honoring the legacy of Erica Beatriz Bercich López, the first female security officer in the country to die in the line of duty. The program includes five thematic panels focusing on equal opportunity, leadership, professional training, innovation, and institutional cooperation.

In Mendoza, the day is also marked by recognizing the contributions of female officers. Commissioner Gabriela Verónica Melzi, head of the Strategic Operations Center (CEO) for the Southern Zone, was highlighted for her 26 years of service. Melzi emphasized the high responsibility of the role, noting that officers must make critical decisions in seconds where lives are at stake.
