San Luis Obispo County Poachers Caught by California Wildlife Officers

California Department of Fish and Wildlife officers, together with Cal Fire Law Enforcement and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office, carried out nighttime patrols after receiving multiple reports of illegal poaching. Using an aircraft equipped with night‑vision cameras, they observed three suspects shining spotlights into fields to locate wild pigs and captured video of one suspect discarding a rifle from an embankment.

The suspects were intercepted, found in possession of night‑vision equipment, spotlights and firearms, and were arrested. Each received citations for spotlighting, hunting after hours, hunting without a license and possession of night‑vision gear while hunting.
