South American clubs advance to CONMEBOL quarter-finals

Major South American football clubs have secured spots in the quarter-finals of their respective CONMEBOL tournaments.

In the Copa Sudamericana, Boca Juniors advanced decisively after a 4-0 victory against Recoleta in Paraguay, resulting in a 7-1 aggregate win. Goals were scored by Santiago Ascacíbar, Sebastián Villa, Miguel Merentiel, and Alan Velasco. Boca will face the winner of the São Paulo and Bolívar matchup in the next round.

São Paulo also progressed to the Copa Sudamericana quarter-finals by defeating Bolívar 3-1 at the Morumbis stadium. Goals from Luciano, Jonathan Calleri, and Sabino secured their advancement, setting up a high-profile clash against Boca Juniors.

In the Copa Libertadores, Estudiantes de La Plata secured their place in the quarter-finals with a 3-0 win over Universidad Católica in Chile. Joaquín Correay and Guido Carrillo, who scored twice, led the victory, allowing the Argentine side to reach the final eight for the second consecutive year.
