San Luis Potosí and Barcelona adopt gender‑inclusive policies
Deputy Marcelino Rivera Hernández introduced a reform to the State Education Law of San Luis Potosí, aiming to align the state's legislation with recent federal changes. The proposal seeks to embed a gender perspective throughout the education system, expand inclusive education definitions, and require schools to adopt specialized protocols, reporting mechanisms and prevention policies against gender‑based violence. The initiative is under review by the Education, Culture, Science and Technology Commission and the Gender Equality Commission.
The Diputación de Barcelona approved a new instruction, signed by President Lluïsa Moret, to integrate an intersectional gender perspective, including LGBTI+ considerations, across all of its policies, programs and public‑spending decisions. The decree establishes gender‑equality criteria for public contracting and budget allocations, positioning the institution as a model for inclusive governance in the region.
