San Luis Potosí authorities conduct transport safety operations

The Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT), in coordination with the State Civil Guard, is conducting permanent operations across four regions in San Luis Potosí to remove unauthorized transport units from circulation. Recent inspections in Charcas and Venado resulted in the removal of vehicles operating without proper authorization, valid insurance, or mandatory documentation. Authorities also noted that some operators lacked required psychometric and anti-doping test credentials.

In response to enforcement actions regarding non-compliant vehicle modifications, some transport concessionaires have stated that the use of LED lights is often a practical alternative to original parts. Concessionaires reported that obtaining original lighting components for older vehicles can be difficult and expensive, leading some to install LEDs to ensure vehicles are not operating with deteriorated lighting systems. While some operators have been sanctioned, transport workers have called for regulations that distinguish between aesthetic modifications and those made for functional safety needs.
