San Luis Potosí authorities recover stolen chlorine gas cylinder

Authorities in San Luis Potosí have recovered a 65-kilogram chlorine gas cylinder that had been reported stolen from Interapas. The container was located in a garage in the southern zone of the capital city following a citizen report regarding a suspicious object.

Specialized personnel and Civil Protection inspected the cylinder and confirmed that the serial numbers matched the stolen unit. Environmental monitoring determined there were no leaks or harmful vapors, and the metal structure and valves remained intact. The cylinder has been returned to the water operator for reintegration into the water treatment system.

Prior to the recovery, a border alert had been issued by Civil Protection due to concerns that the hazardous material might be transported to other regions, such as Reynosa, or sold to metal scrap dealers. Authorities had urged the public not to touch or move the cylinder if found and to report its location immediately via emergency services.
