San Luis Potosí awarded national penitentiary merit medal

During the National Conference of the Prison System, the state of San Luis Potosí received the Medalla al Mérito Penitenciario in recognition of its prison staff’s professionalism and contributions to social reintegration. The award highlighted the work of the State Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, which honored Cristian Arely García Balderas and María del Carmen Morquecho Barragán for their long‑standing service.

Carmen Concepción Villa Galarza, director of Prevention and Social Reintegration, said the distinction reflects Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona’s security policy and the state’s effort to build professional, efficient institutions.
