San Luis Potosí boosts automotive competitiveness and tech entrepreneurship

The state government of San Luis Potosí and the National Auto Parts Industry (INA) are intensifying efforts to enhance supplier integration, innovation and competitiveness in the automotive sector ahead of the upcoming T‑MEC review. At an executive meeting of the Automotive Cluster, Secretary of Economic Development Mario García Valdez highlighted the region's strategic location, infrastructure, skilled workforce and investment‑friendly environment, which helped attract $761.8 million in automotive investment for 2025. Participants called for greater regional content, stronger national supply chains and advances in electromobility and sustainability to keep Mexico competitive in North American value chains.

In parallel, the Consejo Potosino de Ciencia y Tecnología (CoPOCyt) opened applications for the 2026 Technology Entrepreneurship Program, offering a free, fully funded nine‑month course for up to 100 students, researchers and entrepreneurs. The program, financed by the Electoral Fine Trust, will focus on AI, fintech, biotech and cleantech to turn innovative projects into viable businesses.
