San Luis Potosí Congress approves advisory council for autism rights

The Human Rights Commission of the San Luis Potosí Congress has approved a draft to reform the Law for the Attention and Protection of Persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The reform aims to establish an Auxiliary Advisory Council to strengthen the participation of civil society and individuals with autism in the design of public policies.

The Council will serve as an auxiliary body to the Coordination, featuring at least eight representatives selected through an open call. The presidency will rotate annually, and members will serve without remuneration, though travel expenses may be covered for those from within the state. The Council is tasked with advising on autism-related issues, collaborating on policy implementation, and proposing scientific or technological research to promote inclusion.
