San Luis Potosí Congress approves disposal of 31,000 state assets

The Congress of the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí voted 25‑to‑0 to authorize the de‑incorporation of 31,119 movable assets owned by the state executive. The inventory includes 30,571 pieces of office furniture and equipment and 548 vehicles and pieces of machinery that were judged obsolete, deteriorated or beyond their useful life. The approval permits these items to be removed from the public patrimony; those still usable may be donated or transferred to other public institutions, while the rest will undergo legal disposal procedures.

The proposal was driven by the Officialía Mayor, led by Noé Lara Enríquez, after technical reviews concluded that repair or rehabilitation was not financially justified. The list spans televisions, VCRs, medical devices, desks, tools, heavy equipment such as Caterpillar tractors and bulldozers, motorcycles, patrol cars, pickups—including recent RAM 1500 models—and other vehicles. Additionally, 9,140 items lacking individual inventory entries are classified as electronic waste, furniture or other materials. The decree clarifies that de‑incorporation does not imply immediate destruction of the assets.
