San Luis Potosí Congress declares July 31 as Coffee Growers Day

The Congress of San Luis Potosí has approved the declaration of July 31 as the “State Day of the Coffee Growers of San Luis Potosí.” The initiative, proposed by Deputy José Roberto García Castillo, serves as an institutional recognition of a sector that contributes significantly to the economic, social, and cultural development of the state.

The declaration follows a formal request from the “Cafetaleros Unidos” group, part of the Sembrando Vida program located in the municipality of Aquismón. The measure aims to promote the consumption of local coffee, strengthen regional identity, and honor the work of thousands of families dependent on coffee production.

Coffee cultivation is noted for its long-standing role in developing rural communities, generating employment, and preserving traditional productive practices within the Mexican countryside.
