Sinaloa State Congress reinstalls historic Miguel Hidalgo painting

The Sinaloa State Congress has reinstalled a historic oil painting of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in the lobby of its Session Hall. Created in 1898 by artist Jesús Cataño, the work was unveiled during commemorations of the 216th anniversary of the start of Mexican Independence.

The painting underwent a specialized restoration process conducted by the Escuela de Conservación y Restauración de Occidente (ECRO) with the participation of INAH Sinaloa. The restoration included cleaning the varnish, removing overpainting, and treating the textile support. Officials stated the reinstatement serves to preserve the state's historical and cultural heritage.
