Mexico State Congress and Suteym sign 2026 labor agreement
The Congress of the State of Mexico and the Single Union of Workers of the Powers, Municipalities and Decentralized Institutions of the State of Mexico (Suteym) have signed the 2026 Labor Agreement. This agreement establishes a 4 percent increase in base salary and gratifications for 298 unionized personnel, retroactive to January 1 of this year. The retroactive payments are scheduled to be issued during the second half of September.
Beyond the salary adjustment, the agreement introduces several labor improvements, including a 30-day paid leave for unionized public servants with children diagnosed with terminal illnesses. It also establishes 23 economic days per year, which can be converted to cash if unused. Other benefits include scholarships for undergraduate degree completion, support for employees with children with disabilities, and various medical and funeral services.
Separately, in San Luis Potosí, parliamentary coordinators from Morena, PRI, and PAN have begun reviewing the fifth government report. While acknowledging progress in various sectors, legislators noted that significant challenges remain for the current administration to address before its term concludes.
