San Luis Potosí deputy proposes water governance reforms

Deputy Nancy Jeanine García Martínez has proposed constitutional reforms in San Luis Potosí to strengthen water security and governance. The initiative seeks to establish a formal model for coordination between federal, state, and municipal authorities.

The proposed amendments to the State Constitution aim to ensure informed and active citizen participation in the planning, management, and evaluation of water policy. Additionally, the reform includes provisions for transparency in water distribution and quality to foster public trust and accountability.

To promote sustainable management, the proposal introduces principles of intergenerational equity, prevention, and environmental responsibility. It also advocates for an integrated watershed management approach, recognizing that water resources must be managed holistically rather than in isolation.
