San Luis Potosí draws Japanese investment and World Cup tourism boost
The state of San Luis Potosí promoted foreign investment at a business‑promotion seminar held in Osaka, Japan. More than 150 industrial and public‑sector representatives attended, including officials from JETRO Osaka, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Mexican embassy and local firms such as Daikin and Nissin. The event, organized by the state’s Secretariat of Economic Development, aimed to showcase San Luis Potosí’s industrial capacity, logistics, skilled workforce and economic dynamism to attract new projects.
During the same period, the city capitalized on the 2026 FIFA World Cup through the “San Luis Capital, Corazón del Fútbol” programme. Public spaces hosted match viewings, food fairs (Taco and Elote) and cultural activities that attracted visitors from at least 13 countries. Municipal authorities reported that the fairs generated more than 5 million pesos in direct sales and that the overall economic impact of the World Cup activities exceeded 30 million pesos for local merchants, entrepreneurs and service providers.
