San Luis Potosí expands medical services and nursing staff

San Luis Potosí Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona has announced a significant expansion of medical services in the state through coordination with the federal government and IMSS-Bienestar. The initiative includes the upcoming launch of the first 100 medical clinics out of a projected 400 for the entity. These facilities will be staffed by general practitioners, specialists, and new nursing personnel to improve healthcare access across the state's four regions.

To address a reported deficit of approximately 200 nursing positions, the governor has managed the allocation of the first 50 new federal nursing posts, with staff expected to begin working next week. Furthermore, the state plans to open calls to hire around 200 additional nurses to reinforce hospital and medical unit staffing.

The expansion also includes the 'Visitando Corazones' strategy, which utilizes increased nursing staff to deliver medical services directly to homes, particularly for families with limited mobility. The state also intends to intensify health fairs to focus on prevention and citizen guidance.
