San Luis Potosí expands sports infrastructure and athlete support

Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona of San Luis Potosí has announced an expansion of support for regional sports through economic incentives, improved infrastructure, and a robust schedule of national and international events.

Key initiatives include a 5.16 million peso fund distributed among 136 medalists from the CONADE National and Paranational Games and the Popular National Games. Infrastructure developments highlighted by the Governor include the Potosí Baseball Park in Parque Tangamanga I, the Pedro ‘El Texano’ Araiza stadium in Moctezuma, and the modernization of the Miguel Barragán Auditorium and the High Performance Talent Development Center.

The state is also positioning itself as a major host for large-scale competitions. Recent successes include the Copa Potosí 2026, which drew over 80,000 fans and 1,400 footballers. Looking ahead, Arena Potosí is set to host the LXXXII National Charro Congress and Championship from October 8 to November 1, 2026, featuring over 200 charro squadrons from Mexico and the United States.
