San Luis Potosí Governor alleges municipal police links to criminal groups
The Governor of San Luis Potosí has stated that investigations into recent violence in Tanquián de Escobedo suggest the potential involvement of municipal police and city hall personnel in a local criminal group.
The governor attributed the arrival of an external group to individuals from Veracruz attempting to seize control of the municipality. While specific officials were not named, the governor noted that the state prosecutor's office must determine individual responsibilities.
Tanquián Mayor Pablo Emmanuel Jonguitud Guerrero responded to the allegations by stating he was attending a wake during the violent events. He clarified that several vehicles, including those belonging to his family, were caught in the crossfire while parked, and noted that some vehicles used for his transport are borrowed and not registered in his name.
