San Luis Potosí Governor announces agricultural and social support
San Luis Potosí Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona has announced several initiatives for the state's agricultural and social sectors. To support the livestock industry, the state will provide subsidies through the Secretaría de Desarrollo Agropecuario y Recursos Hidráulicos (Sedarh) for the acquisition of genetically improved bulls, cows, and heifers. Additionally, more than 100 tractors will be delivered to producers during the “Día del Ganadero” celebration on August 23 at the Feria Nacional Potosina.
In terms of environmental conservation, the state government is continuing reforestation efforts in the Sierra de San Miguelito, an Area Natural Protected Zone, using native species such as pine, agave, and yucca palm. The administration has stated it will respect presidential decrees protecting this area and will not grant permits for developments that contravene conservation efforts.
Furthermore, the Governor announced a package of works for Villa de Ramos, including road rehabilitation for the El Zacatón community, improved public lighting, and expanded social programs such as Food Security and the “Regreso a Clases” school supply program.
Separately, a report from the consultancy GoberArte indicates that Ricardo Gallardo Cardona holds the highest approval rating among Mexican governors at 71.5 percent, placing him ahead of the governors of Coahuila and Nuevo León.
