San Luis Potosí launches women’s cancer prevention initiatives
The municipal health service in Soledad de Graciano Sánchez continued its "Mujeres contra el Cáncer" campaign, offering mobile units for mammography, pap‑smear tests and medical consultations. Seven free screening sessions were scheduled across the municipality, with additional dates planned, to improve early detection of breast and cervical cancer among local women.
The state health authorities also installed the Committee for Women’s Cancer, a permanent body that brings together IMSS Bienestar, IMSS, ISSSTE, the armed forces health service, civil associations, private hospitals and other agencies. The committee will coordinate prevention, early‑detection and comprehensive care, expanding access to mammography, ultrasound, laboratory and colposcopy services throughout San Luis Potosí.
Both efforts aim to raise awareness, reduce cultural barriers and ensure prompt referral to specialist care, reinforcing the regional health system’s capacity to combat breast and cervical cancer.
