San Luis Potosí legislature approves health and equality reforms

The LXIV Legislature of San Luis Potosí has approved several legislative reforms covering health, equality, and literacy. The approved changes to the State Health Law aim to harmonize local regulations with federal standards, focusing on preventive care, mental health, and sexual and reproductive health, with particular emphasis on vulnerable groups.

Additionally, the legislature passed reforms to the State Law for Equality between Women and Men to incorporate the concept of intersectionality. This legal framework will allow for the analysis of how various factors such as gender, ethnicity, social class, and language converge to create unique patterns of discrimination.

Other approved measures include modifications to the Law for the Promotion of Reading and Books to include digital and accessible formats, as well as reforms to ensure the non-prescriptibility of alimony in the State Civil Code.
