San Luis Potosí mayor appoints director of new LGBTIQ+ municipal unit

Mayor Enrique Galindo of San Luis Potosí appointed Adrián Barrios Muñoz as head of the city’s newly created Municipal Specialized Unit for the Attention to LGBTIQ+ Populations. The mayor highlighted the consensus reached with council members to establish the unit, which he said is among the few municipal bodies in Mexico to have such a dedicated office.

Barrios Muñoz emphasized the unit’s role in providing legal certainty and institutional support for the local LGBTIQ+ community. Councilors Margarita Hernández, Adriana Urbina and Rubén Omar Lárraga were acknowledged for their contributions, and the mayor urged the Cabildo to back the unit’s initiatives to ensure diversity and community needs are addressed.
