San Luis Potosí Mayor Enrique Galindo Orders Police Misconduct Probe
Mayor Enrique Galindo Ceballos of San Luis Potosí announced a thorough internal investigation after a video showed a municipal police patrol near a location alleged to be a drug‑selling point. He said the patrol units are equipped with GPS and five onboard cameras, allowing authorities to reconstruct the incident and determine whether any officers acted improperly. Galindo pledged that any misconduct will be sanctioned and, if necessary, the officers will be removed from duty, while also promising to publicly disclose the findings if no irregularities are found.
The city's Secretariat of Security and Protection Citizens (SSPC) disputed that the video provides clear evidence of wrongdoing and has instructed its C4 unit to review surveillance records and GPS data. Juan Antonio Villa Gutiérrez, head of the SSPC, said the results will be released once the review is complete. The state attorney general also noted that the site is identified as a possible crime hotspot, prompting further scrutiny of the area's security measures.
