San Luis Potosí mayor inaugurates VI heritage and cultural tourism symposium

Mayor Enrique Galindo Ceballos of San Luis Potosí opened the VI Scientific Committee Symposium on Historic Cities and the VI Scientific Committee Tourism Symposium organized by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). The events gathered scholars, researchers and experts to discuss the preservation of historic centres, heritage sites and cultural tourism. Galindo highlighted the city's UNESCO designations – World Heritage City, Creative City and City of Learning – and outlined municipal programmes such as “Historic Centre, Heart of San Luis” that aim to protect and revitalize architectural and cultural assets. Participants, including ICOMOS officials and regional representatives, called for strengthened research, technical criteria and institutional cooperation to improve public policies for safeguarding Mexico’s historic and cultural wealth.
