San Luis Potosí mining output surges, cementing state’s role as Mexico’s leading mineral producer

State mining data released by INEGI and the Industry Metallurgical Statistics show San Luis Potosí’s mineral production rising sharply. Silver output grew 17.47% year‑on‑year, increasing from 11,022 kg in April 2025 to 13,213 kg in April 2026. Copper production jumped 699%, climbing from 1,412 t to 2,399 t, exceeding the 1,800 t reported in March 2026.

The surge, highlighted by Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona’s economic agenda, is credited with strengthening the state’s economy, creating jobs and attracting new investment in the mining sector, which also includes notable quantities of zinc and fluorite.
