San Luis Potosí named Mexico’s leading industrial export hub

During the first quarter of 2026, the state of San Luis Potosí recorded total exports of US$6.27 billion, placing it ninth nationwide and accounting for 4 % of Mexico’s total export volume. Exports grew 3.8 % year‑on‑year, with 99.9 % coming from manufacturing, especially transport equipment that contributed US$4.51 billion and rose 4.3 %.

The Mexican federal government officially recognized San Luis Potosí as a principal engine of the nation’s industry, citing its diversified production base—including automotive, auto‑parts, electrical and electronic equipment, food and beverage, mining, tourism and agriculture—and its skilled workforce and university‑industry links. The state was praised as “the heart of Mexico’s industry,” and its strategic location and new passenger‑rail project linking Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Monterrey were highlighted as future growth drivers.
