San Luis Potosí officials scrutinize municipal spending and political event ahead of elections

Deputy Luis Fernando Gámez, president of the Commission of Surveillance of the State Congress, said all municipal budgets in San Luis Potosí will be placed under close oversight by the state's auditing institute (IFSE) to prevent diversion of public funds as the electoral period approaches. He warned that any official who "distracts public resources must receive the punishment provided by law" and urged citizens to report irregularities.

The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in the state announced it will file a formal request with the State Electoral Council (Ceepac) to investigate a July 9 celebration of the "20 years of gallardismo" that it claims may breach electoral legislation by promoting candidates ahead of schedule. Party officials called on the council to act, stating, "We urge electoral authorities not to be merely spectators but to fully exercise their powers," and asked that any violations be addressed to ensure a fair contest for the 2027 elections.
