San Luis Potosí prepares 162 temporary shelters for emergency response

Authorities in San Luis Potosí have activated a network of 162 temporary shelters across the state's four regions to prepare for the rainy and hurricane seasons. Under instructions from Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, state, federal, and municipal agencies are conducting inspections to ensure these facilities are ready to protect families during natural emergencies.

The review process involves the State Coordination for the Strengthening of Municipal Institutions (Cefim), the National Civil Protection Coordination, and the State Civil Protection Coordination (CEPC). Officials are verifying facility conditions, evaluating protocols, and conducting evacuation drills to improve response capacity.

Inspections and drills have been initiated in areas such as Villa de Reyes, with further scheduled visits to Ciudad Valles, Xilitla, Tanquián, and El Naranjo. The initiative aims to shift toward a preventive policy that anticipates natural phenomena and reduces risks to communities and housing.
