San Luis Potosí receives ALMA International Award for public space program

San Luis Potosí has received the 2026 ALMA International Award in the Good Practices of Local Governments category. The recognition honors the “Domingo de Pilas” program, a five-year initiative focused on recovering public spaces, improving green areas, and fostering citizen participation.

The award ceremony was held at the National Guard's Higher Academy of Public Security. During the event, Mayor Enrique Galindo Ceballos emphasized the importance of inter-institutional coordination between municipal and federal governments to benefit the urban environment. Brigadier General Kurt Alejandro Madrid Romano noted that the program's social proximity approach aligns with the National Guard's efforts to build links with the population.

In a separate community event, the Bicentennial Race was held at Tangamanga I Park to commemorate the 1826 State Constitution. The athletic competition featured 10-kilometer, 5-kilometer, and 3-kilometer runs. Arturo Israel Reyna and Aidé Laura Hernández Rivera secured first place in the men's and women's 10-kilometer categories, respectively.
