San Luis Potosí State Receives Fitch 'A(mex)' Credit Rating and Shows Strong Municipal Performance
Fitch Ratings reaffirmed San Luis Potosí's sovereign credit rating at "A(mex)" with a stable outlook, citing disciplined public finances, a projected average operating balance of 5.66 billion pesos and a debt‑service ratio well below the agency’s five‑times limit. Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona said the rating “demonstrates that in San Luis Potosí we manage resources with responsibility and transparency,” allowing continued investment in infrastructure, free public transport, education supplies and health clinics.
The state also ranked among the top ten Mexican states for municipal participation in the INAFED Municipal Performance Guide 2025, with 43 of its 59 municipalities (73 %) completing the evaluation. Rioverde earned national recognition for nearly 100 % compliance, while Soledad de Graciano Sánchez and the capital city also posted strong results. The program assesses planning, public administration, municipal finances, service delivery, territorial development, environmental management and transparency, aiming to professionalise local governments.
Together, the credit rating and municipal assessment highlight San Luis Potosí’s fiscal health and governance capacity at both state and local levels.
