San Luis Potosí implements new security strategy and citizen service points

San Luis Potosí is advancing the installation of Citizen Attention Points (PAC) in the Altiplano region as part of the state’s ‘Escudo Potosí’ security strategy. Jesús Juárez Hernández, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), stated that these spaces aim to strengthen police presence, prevent crime, and provide social proximity and assistance to residents and visitors.

Approximately 50 members of the State Civil Guard are being trained to manage these points. The initiative involves coordination between the State Civil Guard, the Mexican Army, and the National Guard.

Recent data from INEGI indicates a progressive decrease in the perception of insecurity in the state. According to the National Survey of Urban Public Security (ENSU), the perception of insecurity in San Luis Potosí was reported at 61 percent in September, which is below the national average of 61.5 percent. Additionally, the SSPC reported significant operational results over the past year, including 13,437 arrests and a 79.8 percent reduction in intentional homicides.
